Attorney Biography
My education began with my home-schooling in a cabin on the shores of Sebec Lake in rural Maine, and then led me to Princeton University where I graduated with a degree in Russian History. After I lived abroad for a time, I returned to Maine with designs to practice law.
After Law School I began my legal career as the resident prosecutor for Sagadahoc County. In my five-year tenure as prosecutor I became intimately familiar with Maine’s criminal justice system. I acted as legal counsel and conducted legal training for law enforcement agencies. I also honed my trial skills during hundreds of trials, many before juries.
Since 2002 I have dedicated myself entirely to criminal defense. I travel Statewide, appearing in Maine Courts defending persons charged with crimes. I have a significant focus on OUI defense where I maintain membership in the National College of DUI Defense Lawyers. I also represent many young people, including college students, against a variety of alcohol and drug offenses.
I served actively with the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, first as a board member, then as elected Vice-president, and then as elected President for MACDL, Maine’s voice for its criminal defense bar. I have also lectured on numerous criminal defense topics.
Each of my clients receives the attention which my small, boutique practice allows. I zealously advocate for each client as we work together to construct a successful solution to their legal problem.
